[The Challenge]

To solo sail down the Amazon River in customized domestic bath.

The idea came to me over twenty years ago when with several friends. We were chatting about what mad thing we would like to do before we die.

I thought well the above. But with family responsibilities ete wasn't possible. Last year I decided to do research in to the idea and get a plan of action together. Ten months later, this dream is now a reality.

Much work has gone into the logistic of this adventure / challenge. Detail is vital to increase the possibility of success.

I have just returned from a ground trip to Peru. The plans are in order, Bath in a steel frame supported with side tanks for support and stability. The craft is powered by a 15hp Suzuki outboard engine mounted on the rear of the bath.

Food will be tinned when possible and local food bought on route. With back up emergency high protein packs.

Health issues are important to the success of this challenge. Full medical and bloods completed. Discussions with tropical disease. Doctor with respect to first aid kit, medication etc..

All injections and more including rabies.

Solar power charger for batteries, GPS units torch etc standard part of supplies.

Satellite pone for calls back home and hand marine radio for communication. All emergency rescue beacons.
