[About Rob] I guess
that the spark of adventure has always been with me since childhood. I have
travelled many a country over the years. I lived in Israel for a time, working the farm by day. And by night converted an old bomb shelter into a bar. Almost got shot by camp security while breaking into a hen house to get eggs to bake a cake in the middle of the night. Sleeping on an old fishing boat on the Sea of Galilee I had a profound spiritual experience which in later years was to have a major influence on my life. Also lived in Africa a number of years. Working with the sugar and tea plantations. A unique way of meeting people, making friends. To break bread in a mud hut with a massai warrier, to hunt buffalo in the rift valley Kenya. Watch the sun set over lake victora. See Wild animals in there own environment, wonderful experiences. My love with the water and sailing started only six years ago. During that time I have completed two sailing marathions. The first was a 24-hour solo non-stop in a 14ft open boat; this was the first time to be done by one man. The following year I went for a 36-hour solo with some breaks. Again the first time on record. A tough challenge, all for the children's hospitals. Other hobbies include chess, archery, clay shooting, Karate. I guess if I don't make it back I liked to be remembered as the guy with the wine of life flowing within his veins. |
